In this episode of Elevate 808, we’re celebrating community connection — from keiki learning going deep into the meaning behind their school’s oli to kūpuna receiving meals with love.
We start with Kāneʻohe Elementary School’s Summer Sandbox, where rising 4th graders explore the iliaina in their school’s oli through hands-on learning at Waikalua Loko Iʻa fishpond, and watch as they animate their self-portraits to help teach future students about the oli that connects them to place and purpose.
Then we ride along with Hawaiʻi Meals on Wheels, joining volunteers as they deliver meals (and aloha) to some of their favorite kūpuna. It’s a reminder that a warm plate and a kind face can mean so much more than just lunch 🍱💛
