Assistance League of Hawaiʻi
Assistance League of Hawaiʻi is an all-volunteer organization that supports keiki and families through school clothing, literacy, humanitarian assistance, wildlife education, and emergency outreach. Its volunteers identify community needs and build hands-on programs to address them across Hawaiʻi.
Assistance League of Hawaiʻi is an all-volunteer organization whose members develop and run programs around specific needs they see in the community. Its work ranges from providing new school clothing and literacy tutoring to teaching keiki about endangered species and helping people facing emergencies or other hardships.
Its We Care program provides things such as layettes, children's activity kits, clothing, household items, and other supplies through partner organizations. The Share program takes usable items that don't sell at the organization's Honolulu thrift shop and redirects them to other nonprofits.
Another distinctive program, Operation Wildlife, takes a collection of real animal skins, skulls, feathers, and other “biofacts” into schools so students can learn about endangered species and conservation through hands-on experiences.
