Hoʻomaluhia Horse Rescue
Hoʻomaluhia Horse Rescue rescues and rehabilitates horses in need, providing sanctuary and lifelong care for horses that need a second chance. The Oʻahu organization also creates hands-on opportunities for people to learn about horses, agriculture, and stewardship.
Hoʻomaluhia Horse Rescue is a growing equine sanctuary on Oʻahu’s North Shore dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and providing lifelong care for horses in need. Founded by a local family, the organization is building a long-term sanctuary where horses can recover while people learn through hands-on experiences with animals and the land.
The rescue’s work goes beyond bringing horses to safety. Its current residents have arrived with challenges ranging from malnutrition and age-related health issues to injuries and difficulty trusting people. Alongside sanctuary care, Hoʻomaluhia is developing youth education programs, school experiences, agricultural learning, volunteer opportunities, workshops, and community experiences. The result is a place where the stories of individual horses become a way for people to learn about patience, responsibility, animal care, and stewardship.
